Alka-Cal® -75 Tabs (Case of 12)

Alka-cal Morter supplement bone ready calcium source. Alka·Cal™ is produced by a unique process that preserves the original microcrystalline matrix of living bone in the form of Calcium Hydroxyappatite.

Should you consider calcium supplements?

Even if you eat a healthy, balanced diet, you may find it difficult to get enough calcium each day. There are certain instances, which often require the addition of Calcium in the form of supplementation. For example, if you’re following a strict vegan diet or are lactose intolerant, you may need additional Calcium. And, if you eat meat at least 2x/day and drink milk, you may be losing Calcium from your body. High protein eaters often need additional Calcium. Do you have Osteoporosis, bone loss or have you taken long-term treatment with corticosteroids? If so, you might need extra Calcium.

Those with inflammatory bowel disease or celiac disease, have difficulty absorbing Calcium from their diet. In these situations, calcium supplements may help you meet your calcium requirements.

There are several types of calcium compounds used in calcium supplements. For this discussion, let’s focus on the two types of Calcium, which Dr. M.T. Morter formulated in Alka•Cal®, and the rationale behind his research.
First, research has shown Calcium Hydroxyapatite is a valuable bone-building nutrient. In his research entitled Comparing Calcium Hydroxyapatite with Calcium Carbonate to Prevent Bone Loss, Byron J. Richards, Board Certified Clinical Nutritionist, concludes Calcium Hydroxyapatite is significantly more effective in preventing bone loss than Calcium Carbonate. Richards goes on to say, “Hydroxyapatite could be considered a true bone food.”

We agree, and that’s why we formulated this “bone food” in our product, Alka•Cal®. And, from clinical research, Calcium Hydroxyapatite is purported as an excellent form of Calcium, which has actually been shown to be absorbed into the bone as demonstrated on X-Ray.

A 1995 randomized placebo-controlled study of 40 people in Europe found it was more effective than calcium carbonate in slowing bone loss.

[Straub, D.A. (2007). “Calcium Supplementation in Clinical Practice: A Review of Forms, Doses, and Indications”. NCP – Nutrition in Clinical Practice. 22 (3): 286–96.]

So, the data supports the science behind our clinical experience, and using Calcium Hydroxyapatite as a bone builder makes good sense.

Additionally, we have selected Calcium Citrate, as our experience has shown when the diet is deficient in absorbable Calcium, not only does the bone structure suffer, but so do the muscles. When necessary, Calcium may be leached from bone and muscles to keep your internal mineral chemistry in balance. Here’s the bottom line: If there isn’t adequate Calcium readily available and absorbable, your body will find it either in your bone or your muscle structure. Muscle cramping is a sign of Calcium depletion, and Calcium Citrate is easily absorbed by your muscles.

Calcium Hydroxyapatite for your bones, and Calcium Citrate for your muscles – it simply make sense.

How can I tell if I need extra Calcium?

Try the “Fist Test.” As soon as you wake up in the morning, try this simple test. Make a fist for a few seconds, and then notice if you feel pain or discomfort in your clenched hand. This may be a hint of declining Calcium in your system. Or, do you experience cramping in your legs at night? Do your muscles feel fatigue at a rate you feel is premature? Do you run out of gas when doing light exercise?

These may be signs of mineral depletion to your overall system and supplementation may be indicated. Always check with your physician if you have concerns or questions.

Alka•Cal® contains 500 mg of Elemental Calcium. (250 mg from Calcium Hydroxyapatite and 250 mg from Calcium Citrate).

Advanced Calcium Complex

Microcrystalline calcium hydroxyapatite is the most bone-ready calcium source known. It is produced by a unique process that preserves the original microcrystalline matrix of living bone. In addition to calcium,
it contains matrixed nutrients as they naturally occur in bone, including phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, manganese, trace minerals, and protein. Calcium citrate is a superior form of calcium, naturally acidified for optimal utilization by the body.

B.E.S.T. Process Alka•Line® Supplements are not heat treated, so the enzymatically active ingredients remain alive for maximum effectiveness.

Why are enzymes so important?

Enzymes break down the food you eat and release valuable nutrients so they can be absorbed by the blood and used to build and repair vital organs and tissue. Also, this process produces the energy we need to maintain a strong immune system.

Since enzymes are not stored by the body, it is vital to maintain a helathy nutritional balance in the body to allow it to continually produce enough enzymes to keep the body strong, protecting us from disease.

Alka•Line® products help provide the raw materials the body needs to make enzymes. They provide the necessary colloidal minerals found organically in whole foods like fruits and vegetables while maintining live enzymes whenever possible to aid the body’s digestive process.

The problem is excess protein!

Eating too much of a good thing – protein – causes excess acid to accumulate in our bodies, leading to toxicity and disease. Our cells become congested with excess protein, forcing the pH (acid/alkaline balance) of our body’s life-sustaining fluids, which are normally alkaline, down to abnormal, cell-stifling, disease-producing levels of toxic acidity.

Cells normally live in an alkaline environment and produce acid as a by-product, which is easily eliminated by the lungs. As foods are digested, they create a residue called ash, which is alkaline, neutral or acid. Fruits and vegetables produce a healthy alkaline ash. But, meats, grains, eggs and dairy products leave an acid ash. Over-consumption of these foods results in so much acid that the body can become toxic, leading to the disease proccess. That’s the Protein Paradox. Adequate protein is vital to keep cells healthy, but too much protein makes cells toxic and leads to disease.

B.E.S.T. Process Alka•Line® Supplements can help your body restore its natural alkalinity, put you back on the road to health, and help return your body to its natural state – healthy and functioning perfectly!

You can maintain life, health, and vitality by consuming three times as much alkaline-forming as acid-forming foods. But changing the eating habits of a lifetime is very difficult for most of us.

That’s how B.E.S.T. Process Alka•Line Supplements can help. As you improve your diet, these supplements assure the alkalinity so vital to your body, so you start feeling better and getting healthier. As the first step, we usually recommend Alka•Green®, our best total body alkalizer.
