Design Your Happiness Right Now!

There is no “magic moment” when everything is done and perfect, so stop waiting for it. The truth is, magic moments are happening every hour of every day right under our noses. We are usually so busy looking for the “big” breakthrough that we miss the countless little moments that are quietly moving us in that direction.

To effectively move forward with your goals and dreams, you must be fully present. Research in positive psychology has shown that people who regularly practice mindfulness and gratitude experience greater happiness, improved resilience, and increased life satisfaction—not because life suddenly becomes perfect, but because they learn to notice what is already working. Recognize the magic of each moment and allow those moments to build upon one another as you assess your progress.

It also doesn’t work to measure your progress by where you aren’t yet. Instead, measure it by where you are today compared to where you used to be. The past provides valuable information—it shows you what has worked, what hasn’t, and where adjustments need to be made. Looking only toward the finish line can actually rob you of motivation because your brain begins to focus on the gap rather than the gains. It’s much like comparing your current skill level to someone who has spent decades mastering their craft. That comparison isn’t inspiring; it’s discouraging and unrealistic.

One area worth examining is whether you are attracting the clients you truly desire. For instance, if your dream is to work with healthy dogs through Animal B.E.S.T., helping motivated owners enhance and maintain their pets’ well-being, but your current practice is filled primarily with critically ill animals whose owners are desperate yet inconsistent with recommendations, it is understandable that you may feel disconnected from the practice you envisioned.

Taking the time to clearly define your ideal client is more than a business exercise—it’s an energetic one. Visualize that client walking through your door. Imagine the conversations, the outcomes, and the joy of working together. Your brain’s reticular activating system naturally begins noticing opportunities that align with what you consistently focus on, while your emotional state influences how you interact with others and the opportunities you recognize. If you have already done this work and still aren’t attracting what you intend, you may not be fully synchronized with that intention. There may be subconscious interference or stress patterns that need to be cleared through Morter March or B.E.S.T., allowing your internal state to better match the future you are creating.

At the end of each month, spend a few quiet minutes evaluating three important areas: your skill level, your business operation, and your happiness factor. Ask yourself, “Where have I grown? What am I learning? What needs a small course correction?” These regular check-ins keep you moving intentionally instead of simply staying busy.

Your plans and goals matter. Keeping up with everything can certainly feel daunting —and it is absolutely worth it. When you stay present, course corrections become easier, opportunities become more obvious, and progress becomes much more enjoyable. Celebrate your wins each week, no matter how small. Correct missteps without judgment, then move forward. Small improvements, consistently repeated, create extraordinary results over time.

Remember, happiness isn’t something you postpone until your goals are accomplished. It isn’t waiting for the perfect business, the perfect relationship, or the perfect life. Happiness is something you consciously design through your thoughts, your choices, your focus, and your daily actions—right now.
