Dreaming and Doing

Dreaming and Doing

Dr. Ted here! I’m excited to take a minute and tell you about something Dr. Tom and I are doing to share B.E.S.T. and the whole Morter Health System to those who need it so desperately. All of my life, both as a professional and even as far back as I can remember in childhood, I have dreamed of many different projects, many different ideas. As an adult, building my practice, creating a multi-discipline practice, weight-loss facilities, and many more ideas and inspirations drove my passion for success. I was always taught to follow the dreams into reality and accomplishment and to be the best at whatever I tried. I have been fortunate to be able to bring those dreams into reality because of the inner passion and drive instilled within from my upbringing…thank you, mom and dad, for always encouraging me to dream bigger. To dream, and not ever do, is just not in my DNA.

What Dr. Tom and I are doing now is part of the “do”. We are very excited about it. I used the word “do” several times, and let me tell you why. Those who do things are rewarded for their efforts. Doers get the job done, while others talk the talk. Doers walk the walk. I encourage you become a “doer” as well.

As we discussed the advancement of B.E.S.T., we searched for many different applications, and certainly they are too numerous to count. And, one particular theme kept surfacing; one area kept rising to the top.

Here is what I’ve learned: Every day, more than 115 people in the United States die after overdosing on opioids. That’s every day. How has this happened? In the late 1990s, pharmaceutical companies reassured the medical community that patients would not become addicted to prescription opioid pain relievers, and healthcare providers began to prescribe them at greater rates. This subsequently led to widespread diversion and misuse of these medications before it became clear that these medications could indeed be highly addictive. Opioid overdose rates began to increase. The Midwestern region of the United States saw opioid overdoses increase 70 percent from July 2016 through September 2017. Fellow MHS members, we have to do something!

So, we are. Dr. Tom and I, along with a group of very caring professionals, are opening an opioid rehabilitation/detox facility in Southern Illinois. This facility will utilize the latest technology in helping people break their addictions to these dangerous drugs, including the use of B.E.S.T. and Morter Health System principles. Yes, for the first time ever, we will incorporate B.E.S.T and the Six Essentials for lifestyle change directly into the field of drug detox and rehab.

This decision was carefully discussed between us, and it passed our test.

  1. Is it in alignment with our core values?
  2. Is it in alignment with what we specialize in – B.E.S.T.?
  3. Is it for the benefit of mankind, worldwide?
  4. Is this service needed and appropriate?
  5. Do we feel it in our gut?

And, when we looked at each other after considering these crucial points, the answer was a resounding …Lets DO this!

We invite you to share in our excitement and leverage with us for our success in helping these people heal their lives. Be excited for the future of B.E.S.T. and, most importantly, think of dreams you might have and ways you can, with your knowledge and experience, help others heal. Dreaming big is just the start. Be a doer.
