Franklin Roosevelt was so right when he said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” The very act of fearing is one that causes despair. Fear comes wrapped in a variety of packages: worry, dread, loneliness, and hopelessness to name a few. If you study the root feeling behind many negative emotions, you will find that the base is fear. Fear is the common denominator in many of our greatest challenges. It solicits anxiety and rattles our confidence. It encircles us with a feeling of impending doom. It’s just downright scary!
So, what do we do? How do we handle it? Maybe the best way to handle our fears is to tackle them. If we don’t, then we are destined for failure. Fear insures failure. Where there is fear, there is doubt, and that combination is self-defeating. Just an inkling of either emotion blocks the spiritual energy within you. If you live in fear, you cannot be experiencing the true flow of Spiritual power. It is not possible to know fear and know that you are one with the Universal Energy at the same time. You are either in fear, or you are in faith. You can’t be both at the same time.
In order to overcome your fears, you must see them for what they are. Fears are only minute specks of your imagination within the greater expanse of Universal Energy and power. Confront your fears and deal with them one at a time or, better yet, turn them over to the Power that made you and is within you. Open your mind and soul to the true healing force that is the Creator of all. Believe and know that you can and will rise above your fears, that you can turn your failures into lessons for success in the future. Meditate and be thankful for the positive things you wish to manifest in your life – love, peace, security, confidence, good and vibrant health, or whatever. You can believe these attributes to be part of your life even before they are fully developed. As you begin to feel at peace and confident, then you will find fear no longer resides within you.
